Fabric Arts Punch Quilts

Cristina has been making punch quilts since 2006. Punch quilting is a fabric art technique that mimics quilting to create a fabric wall hanging without actually making a stitch. Through this art medium, she designs punch quilts using multicolored fabrics, foam board, batting, temper board, and some hand-crafted tools to design and create one-of-a-kind wall hangings and ornaments. Beginning with an original drawing, she starts by pinning it on foam board. Then she choses pieces of fabric to make into southwestern and animal scenes, joyous hot air balloons, cheerful skulls for Day of the Dead and much more. Distinctive ethnic beads add a little sparkle to the punch.
