Patricia Apt

Wood

Patricia began learning the craft of woodturning in 2011. She finds such beauty in things that are made of real wood, then finished to reveal or enhance the natural grain. As a woodturner, she enjoys the process of carving out a form, be it a functional bowl or a decorative art piece, that is hidden inside a piece of wood. She uses a variety of woods to make boxes, bowls and utilitarian pieces like coffee scoops and rolling pins. She also specializes in wood-turned miniatures inspired by Native American pottery here in the southwest. In all of her work, she takes great care in the finishing to bring out the natural warmth and beauty of the grain.
