Painting, Photos, Printmaking
Originally from the East Coast, Rachel has happily lived in Albuquerque since 1996. She received her MFA in Painting from UNM, and her BFA in Painting and Drawing from Carnegie-Mellon University. Her recent paintings, prints, and photographic pieces seek to translate and manage life events that seem difficult or unexplainable; turning them into something of beautiful relevance, that relates to a larger life fabric and context. Inspiration comes from the world around her. She sees art and design in the most unlikely places, and through the most mundane interactions. Incorporating imagery that may include silhouettes, nature, written text, and repeated patterns, she's creating a space where these symbolic pictures can interact and elevate her pieces from the personal to the universal.
