La Mesa Arts Academy
La Mesa Arts Academy (LMAA) offers La Mesa Elementary School students’ opportunities for culturally-relevant content, creative self-expression, and socio-emotional learning through quality visual and performing arts classes in Albuquerque’s International District. La Mesa Arts Academy believes that participation in arts programs improves creative thinking and problem solving, builds cultural awareness and self-esteem, and supports academic success for the students in the La Mesa community. The Sandia Heights Artists Tour collects donations at each Tour stop to support the LMAA teacher salaries and program costs so that there are no costs to the students for their visual and performing arts classes.
Along with donation boxes at each tour stop, every artist donates a portion of their tour sales to La Mesa Arts Academy. The donations are used to provide professional instructors and art supplies for the program.
